THOUGHT OF THE DAY
Life is easy...until it isn’t. Over the past few days, we’ve talked about the life that is possible when we begin to fully lean into all that God is offering us. But, what if my present reality doesn’t look like abundant life? Let’s look at Matthew 11:28-30.
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
What do we do when our life experiences are anything but restful and light? What is my response when life is heavy, unjust, and downright miserable? The answer is a simple one: “Learn from me, take my yoke.”
We are invited to learn from Jesus and live a life that looks different than the heaviness of the surrounding culture. Today, be honest with God and invite Him fully into your world. Share your hurt, pain and difficulties. Accept the teaching and intents of Jesus and live free from the weight of the difficulties of life.
PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
GUIDED PRAYER
Lord, I feel heavy and burdened. The world I wade through stacks weight upon me; thank You for Your help and encouragement. As Philippians 4:8 says, help me to meditate on “whatever is good, whatever is true, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, if there is anything praiseworthy.”
Remind me of those things so that my spirit is not pulled down by the world. Lead me to find other brothers and sisters that encourage me and remind me of Your abundant goodness.
Empower me to be kind to others so I do not add to their afflictions. Open my eyes to see the needy and heavy burdened so I can bring light to them. I thank You for the peace You bring and the love You give me. I know, no matter the circumstance, You are good, and I praise You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
