Small MiraclesНамуна
The miracle of God’s creation!
It was a beautiful morning, and I went for a brief walk. I love to connect with God in His creation, so being outside is good for my soul. I walked for a while and then paused for a moment to watch a gardener plant some new flowers in a public flower bed. He noticed my interest in his planting and then asked, “Do you want to see something amazing?”
I said, “Yes I do!”.
He walked around the corner of the flower bed and pointed to a small bundle of flowers that were just emerging. Their radiant colour of yellow was just beginning to emerge and they were stunning. He said, “I have no explanation for these flowers. They are annuals and are not supposed to come back the next year....but they did! It’s a gardening miracle!”
Once again, Jesus had shown me a small miracle. It was just a flower, but when I stopped and paused, God was telling a story of beauty, resilience, fortitude, and overcoming. Those little flowers had done the unthinkable! They had survived a cold winter. They had refused to be carried away by the wind. They had put down their roots in God’s soil and they were back with beauty and colour!
Many of you are like those flowers. You weren’t supposed to come back, but because of God’s strength, you are here! Your life, just like those flowers, is a miracle! Think about the words of Jesus: “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry…” (Matthew 6:28-31a, NIV)
When we worry about tomorrow, we often miss the small miracles of today. So, do you need to go for a walk? Do you need to pause your busy day and go looking for the Small Miracles? Don’t put it off. Do it! You may be surprised at what you see when you are looking with the eyes and heart of Jesus!
You are a miracle!
