Through the Bible: EzekielНамуна
God’s Wrath to the Unrighteous
You will suffer the penalty for your lewdness and bear the consequences of your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.
Ezekiel 23:49 (NIV)
I was so astounded by these two chapters’ explicit description of idolatry, prostitution and whoredom of Israel and Judah. I was also very astonished by the degree of God’s anger, disgust and wrath over His chosen people.
Instead of standing in awe of a just and jealous God, the Jews kept ignoring God’s warnings. Prophet Ezekiel was sent to deliver God’s prophecy (of His just punishment) to the adulterous nation.
Likewise, we see consequences of sin in others (and ourselves) but make a light matter of it. If God can discipline harshly His chosen nation, how terrible will it be to those who are not His? When will we take His warnings to heart and turn away from sin?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Have great mercy upon Your rebellious children, be abundantly gracious and forever forgiving. Do not let us depart from You, the One and True Almighty, in Jesus name, Amen

About this Plan
By the river Chebar, Ezekiel prophesied both judgement and hope to the exiles of Judah, who were just removed from the Promised Land. Although the people cried out, “Our bones are dried up and our hope is lost,” Ezekiel reassured them that God would always provide a way to restore His people. Punishment is grueling, but sometimes it is meant to bring us back to repentance and humility before God.
