Through the Bible: EzekielНамуна
A Christ-Centered Hope
Therefore say to the people of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says : Repent! Turn from your idols and renounce all your detestable practices!
Ezekiel 14 :6 (NIV)
As we read these chapters, we find how God is particularly severe on those replacing the one true God with idols, following detestable practices and misusing His name for personal gain.
You would have noticed in the Ten Commandments the importance that God laid on the uniqueness of God, putting Him first in every aspect of our life and not leading people away using the very same name of God.
Such practices will never go unpunished, and God speaks clearly on what He wants us to follow as His disciples on earth.
However, God does not just warn and admonish His people, telling them what should not be done, but He offers an opportunity for them to know what must be done – to repent. True hope is found in Jesus and all that it takes is a willing heart to turn from its wicked ways and look to Jesus. When we put Jesus first in our lives, our actions, motives, words, behaviour and character reflects Christ.
Putting Jesus first turns a hopeless end into an endless hope.
Prayer
My Heavenly father, wilfully or unknowingly, help me to not have anything come between You and me. Help me to keep You as the one and only true Hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan
By the river Chebar, Ezekiel prophesied both judgement and hope to the exiles of Judah, who were just removed from the Promised Land. Although the people cried out, “Our bones are dried up and our hope is lost,” Ezekiel reassured them that God would always provide a way to restore His people. Punishment is grueling, but sometimes it is meant to bring us back to repentance and humility before God.
