Called Out of Chaos

DAY 5 OF 5

Come to the Table

I want you to take a trip down memory lane today. I want you to think back to the time you were saved. Think of what you felt in this moment. Think of what you heard God speaking to you, how it felt to surrender your whole life to him.

For many of us, this is a moment in time that is unforgettable when we are asked to recall it, but it can slip from our mind on a day-to-day basis. We easily forget what it is like to be in the Father’s arms holding on to only Him and putting our hope in Someone so strong that we know without a doubt in our heart that we long for a life with Him.

When I think back on this time in my life, I remember feeling desperate. I felt like I was without hope. I needed a savior in my life that would not abandon me or fill me with false hopes but was full of truth and safety. After I made the decision to surrender my life to him, I lived my life for a few months steadily holding onto the hope I had in Jesus. Then gradually, I started to think I could handle things on my own. I started to ignore the desire in my heart for something more, and instead, filled my life with worldly things that I thought would fill my wounds.

This seems to happen to many of us. We are all-in with Jesus when we first experience Him, but slowly drift away from His presence due to time or maybe, like me, because pride told you that you didn’t need Jesus. Maybe you are feeling like this right now. Maybe this is bringing up shame because you feel like you have let Jesus down.

First, let’s be clear. Jesus never wants us to feel shame. Shame is from the enemy and is an attempt to keep us from running back to the Father. Second, the invitation to come back to the Father has always been there, even when we feel like we have abandoned Him and that he might not want us anymore. His desire has always been for us to be close to him.

If you are reading this right now and you have never run to the Father, desperate for His love, or you feel like you need to run to the Father again because you have been living your life away from him, I want to encourage you to pray for His presence like you have never before. Surrender to a life that is filled by Jesus.

Looking back at the first illustration in this reading plan, I want to say that it is time for us to stop spinning plates in the air, and instead, use them with their intended purpose in mind. We always have a seat at the table of Christ. So pick up your plate and bring it to Him so you may be nourished and filled by the one who has made you.

About this Plan

Called Out of Chaos

We often find ourselves attempting to balance all of things in our lives and it's like we are spinning plates in the air full of all our responsibilities. God has a purpose for all of us. The perfect life we so desperately seek isn’t found in keeping all of the plates spinning, but it is in a relationship with a person, Jesus. He is calling us out of the chaos!
