Called Out of ChaosНамуна
Identity
Remember when you were a kid, and everything was so much simpler? All you needed to do was wake up, have fun and listen to your parents. Every day was something new and exciting. The only worry you had was if you were going to have broccoli and roast beef for dinner because your mom made you finish all the food on your plate before you could go out and play again.
It is easy for us to wonder what happened to the innocence and sweet freedom that we experienced as a child. It seems to be not easily found as we have gotten older, but even that answer is simple…we grew up. And growing up means we have other roles and responsibilities that we must take on that keep us from resting and having fun.
We have picked up so many roles and responsibilities it is like we are spinning plates in the air and attempting to balance all the things we must do, knowing we can’t take a break because then the plates will fall. We have developed chaos around us that is maintained by the pressure we have placed on ourselves to be “grown-up” and be responsible.
Maybe if we were honest with ourselves, we could see this comes from a prideful place. We think we must do everything ourselves because no one is going to do it the right way or the way we want. We think we have to put it all on ourselves.
Or maybe it is because we have forgotten the carefree self we used to be; we have forgotten our identity.
The question of who are you often revolves around the things we do, our jobs, hobbies, hopes, and dreams. What if we looked at ourselves without thinking of the things we do, but who our internal self is? Our core identity has always been, and will always be, a child of God.
Scriptures say we can live a life like a child because of our Father. God is calling us to remember our identity in Him, even when the plates are spinning and we are feeling overwhelmed. God has proclaimed who we are from before we were even born and we must know and believe before we can see the reflection in our external lives.
Let the scriptures be read over you so you may know and believe.
About this Plan
We often find ourselves attempting to balance all of things in our lives and it's like we are spinning plates in the air full of all our responsibilities. God has a purpose for all of us. The perfect life we so desperately seek isn’t found in keeping all of the plates spinning, but it is in a relationship with a person, Jesus. He is calling us out of the chaos!
