Uncommen: Rest BoldlyНамуна
Take Heart
Jesus has overcome the world. John 16:25-33 talks about tribulation. We will experience trials in this world.
We are very connected these days. News is at our fingertips. We know of every trial going on in the world at a moment's notice. Most of them aren't relevant to our lives at all. However, the pure knowledge of ongoing trials certainly brings on stress, anxiety, and more.
John 16:33 assures us that Jesus has overcome the world. We can have peace and rest knowing that our sovereign God is in control. No matter what happens, He is in control. Everything that happens on this earth is under His dominion. Every breath, every thought, every second, and anything else you can think of. His sovereignty brings peace. We can know that everything that happens is for the good of His people and the glory of God.
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28
Life is hard to get through if you don't have a connection to Jesus and the gift of Salvation. Having a relationship with the Holy Spirit, an active prayer life, and time in the Word will help offset our daily battles.
Trusting that Jesus has overcome the world should give us tremendous peace that greater things await us.
A few ways to adjust our focus on Christ
- More prayer time
- Less complaining
- More time reading God's Word
- Less time on social media
- More time in worship
- More time fellowshipping with believers
- Less time binging on Netflix
- More time in Bible studies
- Less of me
- More of Jesus
I hope this devotion has helped remind us that rest awaits us here and now.
