GOD'S PROTECTION IS A PROOF OF HIS FAITHFULNESS
For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye." Zechariah 2:8.
The eyes are an essential part of our body that needs special attention. Likewise, God told the people of Israel that they were the apple of His eyes, and therefore, He would certainly protect them forever. Indeed, Israel had experienced many problems and pressures from foreign nations, which sometimes happened because of their stubborn hearts that caused God to give them into the hands of these nations.
Don't we sometimes do the same thing? Even though we have become believers, we still make mistakes because of our fleshly passions. Sometimes we become unfaithful to the Lord and His word. We walk according to our desires and are more interested in what other people say, even if it's not necessarily from God. We only realize our mistakes after encountering failures and destructions. The Lord is a faithful Father who is patient and merciful. He accepts our repentance and loves us the same as the apple of His eye.
God doesn't let us fall. He doesn't leave us alone in distress to continue suffering. That is what happened to the Israelites. When they realized their mistakes and turned to God, He defended them and drove out all the nations that persecuted them. God gave protection to the people of Israel because He remembered His covenant with their ancestor Abraham. He is a faithful God.
We are God's chosen people, and since we have received salvation through the Lord Jesus, He will fulfill all of His goodness and promises in our lives. Sometimes our faith may be unstable; it may be up today down tomorrow, but the Lord still shows His love and faithfulness to us. Despite our wavering faith, the Lord still protects us and is with us because of His love for us. God deserves our song of thanksgiving for His love, faithfulness, and protection.
Every one of us can make mistakes. However, don't be intimidated by those mistakes.
