DAY 36 OF 63

Making Good Decisions

It goes without saying that it can be so difficult to be good to people who have done us harm. When someone speaks disrespectfully to you, it can be human nature to give them a piece of your mind, in the same manner, you have been spoken to.  In times like this it’s vital for us to think, what would Jesus do- very cliché, but very necessary.

As Jesus hung on a cross next to a thief, he chose to speak words of life to a man that was deemed evil in the sight of people. Jesus knew that this man had done wrong and yet he chose to overcome evil with good and promised him life in paradise.

When we choose to show kindness to people who choose evil, we open a door that lets them encounter the goodness of God. Sometimes your good action may be the only Bible someone reads.  By clinging to the God who is light shining in the darkness you can be a man of God eradicating darkness.

Today, actively choose to change your daily vocabulary. Replace harsh words with life-giving words and make a conscious decision to act with gentleness in the face of adversity. Ask God for his grace to change and live differently.

Prayer:
God, teach us your kind ways, soften our hearts, replace every anger with joy and teach us to choose compassion even in times when it is easy to choose hate. Give us your grace to live a life that overcomes evil with your goodness. Amen.

About this Plan

Fruit Bowl

Fruit Bowl is a 9-week deep dive into the Fruit of the Spirit put together by the Naujavan community. Jesus said, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit is the result of spending quality time with God, allowing Him to shape and form us.” We hope this devotional encourages you to do just that.
