The Perfect YouНамуна
Failure and Accusation
Jesus said a house divided against itself cannot stand (Matthew 12:25). Fortunately, you’re not a house divided. You aren’t two people. You don’t have two hearts. You don’t have two selves.
Yes, the battle is very real. The fight is daily, and the struggle is obvious. But the battle is not against your own self. You’re united with Christ, and you’re on God’s team.
Your old belief system known as “the flesh” is completely untrustworthy. Don’t trust it. And don’t trust the world or the enemy. Don’t trust them.
But you are not them.
You’re the new self, and you can trust what God has done in you.
What happens when you fail?
Those old mindsets of law-based religion are waiting to pounce on you. “Of course, you failed,” they tell you, “because you’re a failure.” “Of course, you sinned,” they say, “because you’re a dirty sinner by nature.”
That voice isn’t God. It’s not the Spirit speaking to you. That’s the accuser operating through your old belief system (the flesh) to shame you. The premise is that you are what you do. Remember: That’s not the truth that sets you free!
Today, when you fail under God’s grace, here’s what God’s Spirit has to say to your spirit: “You failed, but you are no failure. You sinned, but that’s out of character for you. You acted like someone you’re not. Remember who you are. Be who you are. And as far as any repair with others that’s needed, we will walk through this together.”
This is the voice of the Comforter, the Counselor, and the Guide into all truth. This is God’s protective wisdom that works with your heart, not against it, to direct you away from the harm of sin.
