Effective Prayer

DAY 2 OF 9

Prayer of Moses - Seeking God

What caused Moses to pray?

After decades of undergoing severe bondage and slavery under the Egyptians, two million people freed from slavery danced in victory and worshiped the Living God. They journeyed to their homeland under the leadership of Moses. The once grateful and content people soon changed their song to a tune of murmur and discontent because they missed the merger rations that Egypt provided. In spite of the Lord commanding the people of Israel not to worship any other gods, they in the absence of Moses urged Aaron to build an idol and worshiped it. God was so angered by this that He threatened to wipe them out completely. Moses experienced a huge challenge leading this group of difficult and rebellious people and became a mediate between God and them. This caused Moses to pray and seek God’s help.

How did Moses Pray?

Moses acknowledged, claimed and prayed in accordance to God’s Will and Plan for himself and the Israelites.
Moses was honest with God to ask for God’s help when he needed it and was confident that God would provide because of his relationship with God.
Moses sought the Lord’s presence more than the provision of the Promised Land. He prayed to know God more intimately rather than the blessings from God’s hands.

Did God answer Moses’ prayer?

Yes, the Lord promised Moses that His Presence will never leave him and he will find rest. God kept His promise to Moses all though his life.

How can we pray like Moses?

Acknowledge God – God is absolute power, abundant love, full of kindness and He is Sovereign. Realizing this will help us surrender ourselves to the plans that God has for us.
With a thankful heart - a heart of gratitude is result of us knowing and trusting that God is our father and He provides all our needs according His will.
Pray for others because we are called to love our neighbors.

Prayer creates the desire to know God, to understand His plans for us and deepen our relationship with God.

About this Plan

Effective Prayer

Haven't we all started a relationship with a word, maybe ignited by a thought or an action? Haven't we also wanted to be heard in a group or in one on one interactions? In this plan, you will be shown how different people in the Bible shared personal relationships with God and therefore approached Him for different reasons. In addition to hearing their prayers, God answered them and blessed their lives, and a new relationship begins with God and so does a new journey with God!
