Your Why Is Beautifully Unique
Ultimately, “why” you work out starts and ends with honoring and glorifying God above everything else. But how can you determine your unique “why”? What does your unique expression and application look like? Ask yourself these five questions:
- What good do I want to come out of my fitness, besides getting stronger, faster, and more skilled?
- What have I walked through and experienced that makes me different than other people?
- What things do I find myself caring about that others in my life really don’t? (“I just love _____!”
- If I could fast-forward my life by three years, and someone tells me, “Wow! You’re different!” what do I hope they mean?
- What doors of opportunity for the Gospel do you pray open up because you are developing physical health in this area?
Knowing your why gives a layer of depth that drives you to work harder than you’ve ever worked. It keeps you going day in and day out, through easy seasons and difficult ones. It causes you to see the daily grind in a more redemptive, eternal way than simply checking a box ever could.
You may choose to do the exact same physical activity as a large community of others. But your “why” is beautifully unique, rooted in God’s love and plan for your life.
