Welcome the Wilderness

DAY 4 OF 14

The Wilderness Is Holy Ground

In Exodus 3, we find Moses in the wilderness after he has fled Egypt, following the murder he committed there.

How often do we mess up and find that we are unable to do anything other than run away, trying to hide? But there’s no way for us to just “go through the motions” of being good at doing church or pretending our way through our faith when we are stuck in the wilderness.

It was in the wilderness—after the shame and the loneliness—when Moses decided to set up camp instead of trying hard to get out of it. That’s when God speaks to him.

In Exodus 3:5, we read: “Then he (God) said (to Moses), ‘Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.’”

Don’t miss this in your own story: The wilderness is holy ground.
