Twelve spies were sent into the land of Canaan. They all saw the same things but only two possessed vision.

Vision is spiritual awareness. Vision sees more than the size of a city or the strength of an adversary. Vision sees God at the center of the equation. Ten spies determined that the obstacles were immovable. Joshua and Caleb determined that the opportunities were inevitable. Ten spies said, “This is bad.” Two spies said, “This is it!” Ten spies couldn’t get past giant men, but Joshua and Caleb knew that God was greater than all the giants of Canaan. Their awareness of the greatness of God gave them confidence to speak boldly as others cowered in fear.

We would all benefit by a daily meditation on the attributes of God. We are surrounded by the limitations of the natural world, bombarded with godless philosophies, and assaulted with negativity. We need vision that reaches further than our eyes and faith that stands alone in God. When we have assessed the circumstances and taken the full measure of our abilities, we have done little to determine viability.

People of vision never forget that what really matters is what God thinks; what God wants; and who has the faith to embrace it!
