There's Hope For Today

DAY 52 OF 366

We choose a radio station by tuning the dial. We select a television channel via buttons on a remote. We go to various websites that meet distinctive needs for information or retail. We discriminate every day between restaurants, clothiers, bookstores, gas stations, and dry cleaners. We have determined what is good and bad; what meets our needs, where service is best.

Every day we make choices … none so important as our mindset. Paul offers the Philippians selected categories for mental health in Philippians 4:8. He challenges the Colossians to “set” their minds.

Are you setting the range and focal point of your thinking, or are you allowing your mind free reign to wander all over the dial? Are you discriminatory in rejecting lines of thought that are evil, wasteful, or selfish? Are you heavenly-minded? Do thoughts of the Lord intrude in every corner of your thought life?

We are what we think. What we do is ultimately traced back to the headwaters of the thought life.

We need to take time every morning to establish pre-sets for the mind. Determining where we will tune in will help define what we should tune out.
