There's Hope For Today

DAY 34 OF 366

Before he was born he was abandoned.

He’s an innocent victim – he’s the scene of the crime. He’s been robbed of a father and he’s forever looking for the dad he never had through the windows of a broken heart. Through that window he sees healthy families, loving fathers, and happy sons. Through the window he sees the fishing trips and baseball games they might have shared. He sees the man he dreamed would come home and correct this terrible mistake … but that man remains on the other side of the glass, oblivious to the longing eyes at the window.

Nothing in life has been able to pull a curtain on that window or gain him access to the other side. He needs a father. Nothing can replace a father; someone to heal the wounds of rejection; to silence the roar of loneliness.

At the window, he’s unaware of the One who stands at his side. The Father he longs for; the Father he didn’t know he had stands by, waiting for an introduction.

Surely this is the work of the church in a “dysfunctional” world: to turn his eyes from the window of longing to find the Father who knows the pain of unrequited love, and sees us through the windows of a broken heart.
