One Day at a Time

DAY 3 OF 7

God Is in Control

God has never, in the history of mankind, allowed his name to go long offended.

Don’t be fooled. Our country is not ruled by Republicans, Democrats, or any human authority. It is not controlled by Wall Street or big business entities. No power, earthly or supernatural, rules America or any other nation. God alone is in control. He sits as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, ruling and reigning over all creation from his heavenly throne.

The truth is that history is going somewhere. We can be sure that the swift current of unfolding events today is carrying us toward God’s eternal purpose. The world is not adrift; the Lord hasn’t abandoned the earth, no matter how wicked and faithless humankind has become. Rather, God has simply picked up the pace. What we are seeing now is a swift movement of events toward the “one divine event” ahead: the re-creation of a new heaven and earth where Christ will reign supreme for all eternity.

Beloved, our God is not one bit anxious about Satan. He isn’t fretting over what we see as an evil takeover of our nation. With just one word from our Lord’s mouth, Satan will be gone forever, tormented for eternity. Therefore, we are to fear no evil.

David was offered King Saul’s armor and weapons, but David chose the only weapon he trusted: the Lord of hosts! The day God’s Spirit brought us to Jesus and anointed us He came to stay and to abide. In your trial and in your discomfort, he is your comforter. Things may seem to be going wrong, but for you who trust, God has everything under control.

God is not just ‘up there’ engaged in running the universe. He is ‘down here’ at work.

Quit thinking of faith formulas and methods. Just commit every prayer to Jesus and go about your business with confidence that He will not be one moment early or late in answering.
