Connection with GodНамуна
DAILY SCRIPTURE
“If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5b)
JESUS - OUR EXAMPLE OF CONNECTION
Jesus perfectly modelled for us what uninterrupted connection with the Father looks like.
We have so much to be thankful to Jesus for. Included in that long list is that Jesus gave us the example of what is possible for someone who is living in connection with God. We each have the opportunity to passionately pursue our connection with God. The question is, how deep do we want to go? How close to God do you want to be?
In John 5:19-20 we read this incredible statement,
Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed."
During his time on earth, Jesus was dependent on his Father. What would our lives look like if we truly followed Jesus’ example in this, so that our dependence on God became such a priority in our lives that we increasingly sensed and did what pleased our Father? What effect might this have on our relationships, our families, our schools and workplaces, our yet to be saved friends? Not to mention the joy in our lives and relationship with God!
Jesus has given us this most wonderful invitation to remain in him, with the promise that he will remain in us. Without this connection, we can produce no real fruit. But with him, we will bear much fruit. The key is our connection to Jesus, the pursuit of all that he is and all he wants to do in and through us.
