Drawing Closer

DAY 18 OF 40

Jesus | Jesus Is a Shepherd

Throughout the Bible, the church is depicted as a flock of sheep with Jesus as its Shepherd. More specifically, in Psalm 23, we see that a good shepherd provides and protects his sheep. For this reason, it’s important to understand some things about sheep and shepherds.

A good shepherd doesn’t always give sheep what they want, but always provides sheep with what they need. A good shepherd doesn’t always take sheep where they want to go, but always leads sheep where they need to go. If you follow Jesus, your shepherd, He will lead you and supply for all your needs.

Just as wolves catch sheep that wander out of the flock, many people fall prey to the enemy when they’re not in fellowship with other believers. You need to be right in the middle of the flock, walking with the shepherd. Wolves are afraid of the shepherd, but you never have to fear because the shepherd is protecting His sheep. Jesus gives you the ability to live beyond your fear. He takes your biggest fear and totally annihilates it.

Jesus is more than just a good shepherd. He is the great shepherd. Jesus has enough wisdom and power to provide for you and protect you. Have you have fallen prey to the enemy? Believe that He can provide for you and protect you.

Memory Verse

"No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you." John 15:15
