Jesus In Red

DAY 3 OF 5

Texas Thunder

Jesus asked the blind men if they had faith in Him. Did they believe He was able to open their eyes? Our faith in God will be in direct proportion to our understanding of His power. The world sees God as an elderly bearded man in the sky, reaching out his finger to touch Adam. But He is nothing like what we, in our foolish ignorance, conceive Him to be.

God is the Creator of the entire universe. When God opens our eyes and we finally see His awesome power, we should be left breathless and in awe. If we’re not, we need to pray that God puts us in the center of a violent lightning storm in Texas (everything is big in Texas) so that the sound of thunder shakes our bones and the massive terrifying flashes of lightning put the fear of God in our hearts.

Did you know that lightning can get as hot as 60,000°F? That’s hotter than the surface of the sun! God created every incredible streak of lightning. Every atom that holds it together was shaped by Him. Perhaps if we were caught in such a storm, we would get a slight understanding of how powerful our God is and never doubt His ability to do the impossible.

Do I need a terrifying thunderstorm in my life to help me fear God?

Father, smash erroneous thoughts that I have of you and replace them with the truth.

About this Plan

Jesus In Red

If anything in this life deserves our attention, it’s the powerful words of Jesus. Things in life that are red shock us: Fire trucks, stop signs, even blood. They stop us in our tracks and we pay attention to them. The words of Christ, often written in red ink in some bibles, should demand our attention as well. Experience God’s presence as you reflect on the awe-inspiring teachings of Christ.
