Love God Greatly - Psalm 119

DAY 18 OF 54

Not many people can rejoice in punishment and afflictions, but Christians can. We were enemies of God, swimming in sin, before we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. We were destined for an eternity in hell, until we surrendered our life to follow the Lord. Even after salvation, we will go through tests and face trials and discipline. Sometimes we will have to experience the painful consequences of bad choices in order to better understand the joy that comes with living according to God’s Word. However, we have the promise that God who began a good work in us is faithful to complete it until the end. Even through tests, trials, and discipline, believers are never forgotten.

What are some valuable lessons you have learned from past decisions? When has the Lord’s testing and discipline been one of the best things that has happened in your life?

Father God, forgive me for the choices that I made that were the result of me doubting You, second-guessing You, and failing to seek You. But, I thank You for those negative experiences, because they have made Your Word and Your Ways such a valuable and rich treasure in my life. Keep me humble, Lord, so that I will remain close to You, never straying from You and Your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
