Providence negates the concept of luck. Things may look like coincidences or happenstance, but in the hands of a sovereign God, they are purposeful events. All that has happened, is happening, or will happen has either been caused or allowed by our God, and while that might be hard to hear, it should fill each one of us with great comfort to know that the God of the universe runs the show.
Think about the pieces of a puzzle. The protrusions and indentations sometimes don’t look like they fit or they take a long time to come together, particularly when there are a lot of pieces to that puzzle. But when you fit them together with care and time, each individual piece really ends up being part of something bigger.
In Esther, the king can’t sleep. Is that just a coincidence? He’s given the right book with the right page. Coincidence? Haman comes in at just the right time. I’d call that providence. God does it in the Bible and He does it in your life and mine.
