Everyone loves a hero
Human beings love the concept of a rescuer…someone who storms in at the last possible second to defeat the bad guys, rescue the person in danger, and just generally save the day. Thousands and thousands of movies have been based on that exact premise (half of them star Nicholas Cage). And the reason that this storyline is so incredibly popular is that it speaks to something much deeper inside every single person. We all know deep in our guts that WE need a rescuer. We know that life is unpredictable, sometimes bad things happen, and we want to know that someone will be there to rescue us in our moment of greatest need. And for that reason, we find many of the Psalms focusing on this characteristic of God. God is the ultimate hero, He will NEVER fail, and He is always ready to jump in and rescue us when we need it most. As you read and pray today, reflect on times where God has come through as your rescuer in the past. If you’re in the middle of a difficult time right now, ask God to help – invite Him to rescue you, then wait and watch for Him to work. It may not always be the exact method you think He might use, but God is always looking out for His children.
About this Plan
The book of Psalms is a collection of songs and poems written to God. It is basically the worship music of ancient Israel. And while music is a powerful method of worshiping God, it is merely one of many ways we can bring Him praise. This seven-day plan will take us through two Psalms per day that reveal a different aspect of God and ways to praise Him for that.
