#MADEFOR: Discovering The Purpose Planted Inside Of You

DAY 5 OF 5

In the past four days, you may have found hints at your purpose after setting aside time to think over the questions or do the exercises at the end of each devotional. Maybe you’ve gotten a pretty good idea of what you were made for—but what happens next? When God shows us a part of our purpose, is it our job to get out there and make it happen?

Most of the futures the men and women of the bible were made for didn’t come to pass because of their own prowess or because they “clawed their way to the top”. Think about it: David became a military hero months (even years) after he was anointed the next King of Israel—and just because he was willing to fight a battle no one else was. Esther became the mouthpiece of an entire people after winning a royal beauty contest she had no choice but to enter. Joseph went from a farmer’s son to the second most powerful man in Egypt—after decades of rejection, slavery, imprisonment, and pain.

When God gives us a calling, He doesn’t necessarily expect us to pursue it right away—or to broadcast it to others (see: Joseph). But he does want us to engage with Him as He faithfully leads us toward to our purpose, and not to resent the moments where we’re “waiting”, but to see them as just as important to our destinies as we do moments of triumph. He who promised is faithful to lead you straight to what you were made for.
