Letting Love In: How God Crushes Your Inner Critic Намуна
The Lie of Fantasy
Instead of living my current season, instead of enjoying the day I was in, I would sit and think about the future, letting those thoughts—the what ifs, the I wonder whens, the maybes—go round and round in my head. I was completely distracted from what God was showing me in the moment.
It’s a pesky, but common lie that loves to steal our peace by saying: “When ______ finally happens, then I will be fulfilled. Then I will be at peace.” And that is the actual lie that steals our peace.
Peace is our inheritance, it’s what we are born to live in. Plus, it’s who Jesus is—and He lives inside of us. It’s ours.
Peace is a fruit of His Spirit that took residence in us. It’s ours and we have direct access to it.
The lie that says "when _________ happens then I will be at peace" is setting us up for disappointment. We must be diligent to stay in our current moment and see the good or hold onto the One who is always GOOD if the moment doesn't seem to be good.
Memorize these scriptures ahead. Not just for memorizing sake, but because when this lie tries to come, you can access the truth in your heart and know that no matter what you are "feeling" which is valid, it is not always the truth.
