Just Jesus: Answers For LifeНамуна
Anxiety
Jesus said you can’t serve both God and money. So how are we to live? Why does He tie God, money and anxiety together? Expert money analysts will tell you that investors get anxious when they hear bad news – and when they hear good news. Money has a tendency to breed anxiety. Jesus presents a profound life metaphor intended to bring you freedom. Jesus isn’t saying it’s one or the other. He is saying it’s one over the other. Love for God needs to preside over everything especially money. While fear is more of an acute, imminent sense of dread, anxiety is a more permanent state of worry. The Greek word for anxious here is “merimnao” meaning to care or take thought. God wants you to give Him all your cares. He is more concerned than you are about what your needs are. He literally wants you to cast all your cares upon Him. If you don’t, anxiety erects a wall between you and God. It’s hard to trust God with anxiety in front of you. Saturate yourself in prayer throughout the day with gratitude each time an anxious thought arises. He loves you so much. He will always take care of your needs.
Memory Verse
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.” John 14:27.
Declaration Prayer
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. I want to trust You with all my heart and not depend on my own understanding. As I seek Your will in all I do, You will show me which path to take. May I not worry about anything, but pray about everything, telling You what I need. I have all I need, anyway, because You are my need. Let me rest in green meadows. You lead me beside peaceful streams. Thank You for all You’ve done! Praise You and Bless You!
