Counting The Cost

DAY 21 OF 21

SERVING:

Can we be honest for a moment? Feet are gross! Ever watched “Lord of The Rings” or “The Hobbit?” No? Do that and you’ll understand. You’re welcome. If you really haven’t watched those movies, let’s just agree that men’s feet can be smelly and disgusting.

Despite gross feet, Jesus…you’re reading this correctly… Jesus got down on a knee with a towel around his waist and washed His disciples’ feet. Not only was this culturally significant but to the disciples it was shocking to see Jesus take this posture. He didn’t “have to” but rather he “got to.” Out of love and humility Jesus served His disciples by washing their feet. Ultimately, a significant symbol of Jesus washing away the sins of man by His death on the cross.

He calls and invites you to love and serve with the same sacrificial and obedient heart so that others may hear/see the message of salvation – that Jesus came and laid down His life so that we could have life.

“Serving isn’t just something you do, it’s who you are.” – Pastor Craig Groeschel.

Action Point:

Jesus provides a humbling approach to serving. Consider how you “get to” serve others and examine how those around you would be impacted by your servant attitude.

Question(s):

In what ways are you currently serving others? If Jesus, God in the flesh, was willing to serve, how then can you serve? How is your attitude towards serving? What kind of difference could you make by serving your family? Friends? Teammates? Strangers?
