Hide And Seek
I walk in the door to the faint giggles of my 3 year old boy hiding behind the chair and the smiles of my wife telling me that she doesn’t know where he is, all the while looking in his direction. Then I fumble around trying to find him (not knowing where he is of course) when all of the sudden, “Here I am!” He quickly reveals his hiding spot and runs to me with arms outstretched. There is nothing better in the world.
The joy that my son brings me with this very simple thing is profound. He loves to hide so dad will come and find him. We as students and adults hide sometimes ourselves but we do it for different reasons. We hide from people, circumstances, maybe even God. Why?
In Judges 6 we see Gideon hiding out in fear of the people invading his land. He was hiding, not out of his great desire to play hide and seek, because of fear. God sees him and speaks to him, changing the course of his life.
Challenge:
Don’t hide from the enemy for greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. If you are hiding from something… our Father finds great joy in a good game of hide and seek.
