WE ARE CALLED TO EQUAL SACRIFICE, NOT EQUAL GIVING

Jesus hates unequal sacrifice. Greed and unequal sacrifice can be linked together. Whatever a man cannot give has become his god. What a person cannot walk away from is the same thing the devil will use to take that person away from God.

Jesus calls us to equal sacrifice but not equal giving. The attitude of Jesus toward this is seen when He went to the temple and sat to observe people as they gave their offerings. Even though Jesus saw the wealthy cast much out of their abundance, He judged that the widow who gave her last, which was only two mites, gave more than all of them put together. God does not rate what you give by the amount; He rates what you give by what it is costing you. What is happening in the Body of Christ today is not acceptable to Jesus because the assignment in the Body of Christ is largely being financed by people who cannot afford it.

The widow with two mites, out of her poverty, gave all her living. If Jesus thought the way some people think today, He would have told her not to give at all. Jesus never excuses anyone else from participating in the divine assignment. It is a wrong doctrine to excuse yourself or anyone from participating in divine assignment by virtue of age or social status. As a Christian, you need to develop the attitude that says, “This is my divine assignment, and it is contributing to my eternity.” Jesus did not stop the woman from giving but commended her for giving more than others put together.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive a fresh baptism of the grace of a giver - to give sacrificially and wholeheartedly in Jesus’ name. Amen!
