Jesus’ Water Works! Devotions from Time of GraceSmakprov
Choose the water that works!
Back in 2010, rapper Lil Wayne expressed a dilemma we all face in life. He assumed “the game” (a career in rap music) would satisfy his soul, but it didn’t. All of the money, fame, and pleasure weren’t enough to fill the God-shaped hole that his Creator put in his heart.
You don’t have to be a rapper to feel the same way. We too often assume that __________ will be enough to satisfy us. Making it into college. Finding a good job. Getting married. Having kids. Making more money. Going on another trip. Remodeling the kitchen. Retiring. Even we Christians assume that if God would just bless us with ________, we would be content. However, those good things break their vows and leave us just as restless as before.
Thankfully, God is still inviting you to a life of deep spiritual satisfaction. Listen to one of the last things he says in the Bible: “Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life” (Revelation 22:17). If you’re thirsty for love, forgiveness, hope, peace, rest, friendship, acceptance, pleasure, joy, or any spiritual gift, then come to Jesus! Jesus is offering the “water” that will quench the thirst of your very soul. Best of all, he says it’s a “free gift,” all yours through faith. What an offer!
