When we think about love, we typically think about our family, friends, or things we like. God’s love, however, is on another level! We see the perfect example of this in the sacrifice of Jesus, His one and only son. John 3:16 is so much more than a verse, it’s important because it shows how personal and real God’s love for us truly is.
When God sent Jesus to Earth, He did it knowing exactly what Jesus would experience and the sacrifice His life would be. But why? Because God loves us that much! Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection is what makes it possible for us to have a close and never-ending relationship with God. But it’s bigger than a showing of love, it’s a deep commitment to us. And what else is cool about this gift from God - is that it isn’t based on our performance like a grade in school. It’s unconditional and constant.
Think about something you really wanted, but it took you forever to get it. When you finally receive it it’s even better than you thought it would be. That’s what God’s love is like! It’s a better-than-anything gift that we can’t receive from anyone BUT God. No matter what you’re facing, you can hold to the truth that His love is real and available to you right now.
- Bottom Line: God’s love is not just a concept—it’s a gift. He sent His Son because of love, and this love is available to you today.
- Response: Think about how much God loves you. Write down some examples from your life, and thank Him for showing you these daily reminders.
