YOUR QUESTION FOR TODAY
A single question has the power to change your life. Ready for it? “God, what shall we think of next?”
The Bible tells us, “The Word became flesh.” The thoughts we think physically change our brain––it’s called neuroplasticity. Thoughts shape who we are. And that means when we think about God, when we involve him in our thought life daily, we change on both a neural and a spiritual level. The Word becomes flesh.
Throughout this journey, we’ve studied Frank Laubach a bit, the missionary who devoted his life to being with God. In today's video , we consider a question Frank asked himself: “God, what shall we think of next?” This question brings the abstract (living with God) and makes it practical (thinking with God).
Maybe this concept sounds difficult to grasp. To put it simply, when you ask God to show you the very thoughts you should think, you’re inviting Him into your life. Knowing that what we think shapes who we are, it seems important enough to include God in the process of thinking itself, doesn’t it?
Curious what might happen when you start to think with God? Laubach put it this way: “This concentration upon God is strenuous, but everything else has ceased to be so.” When you focus on Him and think with Him, you worry less. You become focused on eternal things rather than the temporary distractions of this world. There’s no better way to spend this Christmas season than to focus on His goodness.
To phrase it like Laubach did, “If He is there, the universe is with me.” You are not alone. Think with God today.
Ask, “God, what shall we think of now?” Listen to the answer. It will come. Immanuel.
