Living Changed: When Your Birth Story Didn’t Go As Expected

DAN 7 OD 7

Next Right Step

As this Bible Plan comes to a close, take a moment to acknowledge that you can do hard things. Not only have you gone through a hard experience with your birth story, but you are doing the deep work to find healing from it.

Keep inviting God into your pain. You don’t have to put yourself together before going to Jesus. He wants you, all of you, even the parts that feel broken. Continue to seek Him above all else, and day by day, He will peel back the layers of your heart and help you heal even your deepest wounds.

As you go through this spiritual wound care, try to remember it’s okay to not feel “normal” because what you went through isn’t normal. Give yourself permission to feel your feelings. Give yourself space to process, and keep reminding yourself that you can do hard things.

You are called. You are a warrior. You can confidently press into your healing because you are never alone. The Creator of the heavens and the earth is by your side, fighting for you. What your spiritual enemy meant for evil, God can and will use for your good.

I once heard a quote by Author and Pastor Alan Redpath that said, “There is nothing—no circumstance, no trouble, no testing—that can ever touch me until, first of all, it has gone past God and past Christ right through to me. If it has come that far, it has come with a great purpose, which I may not understand at the moment. But as I refuse to become panicky, as I lift up my eyes to Him and accept it as coming from the throne of God for some great purpose of blessing to my own heart, no sorrow will ever disturb me, no circumstance will cause me to fret, for I shall rest in the joy of what my Lord is—that is the rest of victory.”

Even though what happened to you doesn’t seem fair, you can choose to trust in God’s goodness and stay focused on your next right step.

You’ve already taken an important step: you’ve shown up for yourself by reading this plan. So, what’s next? Maybe it’s being bold and asking for help. Maybe you need to write out affirmations that remind you of God’s truth and hang them on your mirror where you’ll see them every day. Or maybe you need to work on giving yourself a little more grace to feel your emotions.

Regardless of your next step, remember that God’s Word is a lamp to your feet. Spend time with Him and He will guide your every movement. When you don’t know what to do, turn to Him. When you’re tired, go to Him. When you’re afraid, discouraged, or anxious, reach for Him. Even though you may feel weak, He makes you strong. Don’t be afraid to fight for your healing. The God of the universe is on your side.

Dear God, thank you for who You are. I’m so grateful that I can depend on your never-changing character. Thank you that you see me, you love me, and you care about what I am going through. I invite you into my healing journey and ask that you help me to take my next right step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We pray God used this plan to minister to your heart.
