Recovery Day 15
Mark 8:22…they begged him to touch the man and heal him. 23 Jesus…spitting on the man’s eyes, he laid his hands on him and asked, “Can you see anything now?”
I can imagine everyone holding their breath when Jesus spat on the man’s eyes. They must have wondered, “We asked You to touch and heal him Jesus; not to spit on him?” When you come to God asking Him to do something in your life, my advice is do not worry about how God will do it. When these people came to Jesus, they told Him what to do and attempted to show Him how to do it. But instead Jesus spat on the man. Stop worrying about “How” because His ways are not your ways. His thoughts are not your thoughts.
Most of us think of spittle as disgusting. But in actual sense, spittle is one of the most intimate things a human can share with you. You do not exchange your spit with just anybody. Your spittle is one of our most intimate possessions. God does not see spit the way we see spit. Jesus in showing His affection for the blind man, spat on his face – shared His spittle with him. But beyond that, it would interest you to know that inside the saliva is the DNA of the person. Jesus, in spitting on the man, was actually saying, “This is my composition, this is what I am made up of and I am giving it to you.” So I say to Jesus, spit on me. I want to bathe in Jesus’ spit. Why? Because His spit carries His DNA and He is applying it for healing because Jesus’ DNA is the DNA of God. That is if God has a DNA.
The spit also contains white blood cells and the white blood cells control the immune system, the body’s defense mechanism against diseases. Jesus applying His spit on the man’s eyes was Him saying, “Your vision defense system is weak so I am giving you my defense system to take care of your vision.” When Jesus spat, we said “yuck”, heaven said “wow”. When Jesus spat we said, “How can He be that gross?” Heaven said, “How can He be that intimate?” When Jesus spat, we wondered if He was disrespecting the man but heaven saw it as Him honoring the man.
Thought: God’s way or your way; what would it be??
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that Your way is higher than my way and I submit to Your will and Your way to full recovery in my life, in Jesus Name. Amen.
