Welcome to the Family: 10 Days for New Christians

DAY 10 OF 10

Grace (Greater Than)

Grace...grace covers all. Grace never ends. The grace of God is something we’ve probably all sung/talked/read about at least a bajillion times in our Christian walks. It’s so easy to flippantly pass over this concept of God’s grace. Over the years, we have heard countless songs/messages/podcasts/poems about grace, and we become desensitized and passive towards it.

It’s like when you were a kid and absolutely begged your parents for months to get that super awesome Star Wars Millenium Falcon Lego set - or at least I did. Then, come Christmas morning, you finally get it. The excitement is surreal. You jump around, scream, holler, rip open the packaging, and begin to play. A few hours go by, and you’re bored. You’ve finished building it and maybe reenacted your favorite scenes from “The Empire Strikes Back” a few times. The excitement wears off. You got used to it and you’re off to the next thing.

We treat God’s grace like this too many times. We receive it, look at all the details, take in all its beauty, and praise God like we mean it - but over time, it becomes an afterthought. You don’t forget about it, but the power and weight seem to slowly fade away. But the beautiful thing that Scripture reveals to us is that the grace of God has nothing to do with us, but rather, it has everything to do with Him! Let’s get reacquainted! Buckle up!

“Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:20-21 ESV

Are you reading what I’m reading? “But where sin increased, grace abounds all the more.” There’s no amount of sin that God’s grace doesn’t cover. There is absolutely nothing that you’ve done in your life that can keep you from the love of God. It doesn’t just say that the past is covered. It says that when sin increases, grace abounds even more. Our future is covered too! Praise God!

This song was written to bring back that spark, giddiness, excitement, and hope. To remind us that Christ died so we could live. To remind us that we are free in Christ. We have been forgiven. God’s grace is overwhelming and it’s greater than all our sins. It’s Christmas morning every morning! Get excited!

About this Plan

Welcome to the Family: 10 Days for New Christians

Jesus valued belonging before believing. “Welcome to the Family,” designed around Venture Worship’s album, “Family Reunion,” highlights principles of faith – victory won through Christ; why growing in faith to trust God with our weakness and future is worth it; how God’s grace is too good to keep quiet. There's power in the blood, and it runs in the family. Welcome home! Venture Worship is the worship ministry of Venture Church, a multi-site church based in Mississippi led by Pastor Craig Curtis.
