CHOSEN LINEAGE

"But you are a chosen lineage, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired by God, that you may proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9 ).

I believe that when you read that verse, you don't pay much attention to it. Perhaps I am mistaken and I want to be like Sherlock Holmes, analyzing each of your thoughts, hehe... but I am very sure of one thing, and that is, that no matter how many times we read that verse, we often don't believe that we are a chosen lineage, a royal priesthood, and that we are called out of darkness into His marvelous light. Nailed it, right?

Since you already know this passage, I'll spare you the explanations, but I don't want to move on to the next without highlighting some important points that may catch your attention. We have all known that God chose us to be a people acquired by Him, but have we thought about what that implies?

Further on it says: "that you may proclaim the virtues of Him who called you." "The idea presented is important for the Christian. Peter clearly asks us to declare outwardly the virtues that we possess as a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people acquired by God. This determines that we are a Lord's acquisition, which guarantees others the opportunity to know Him. Being a holy people shows that we are not just any people, but an example for other ones, which basically means declaring the virtues outwardly so that others can see what God does for humanity.

The word "proclaim" is an unusual word that does not occur elsewhere in the NT and means "to proclaim and make known something that was previously unknown".

God gives us a special call that we must seize every day. He invites us to preach His Word and guarantees to be with us until the end of the world (cf. Mt. 28:20). Are we willing to proclaim the virtues that have previously been ignored? Is it worth it? Absolutely!
