Who is Renewing Your Strength?

Isaiah 40:31“I am one of those that hope in the Lord my God, and He will renew my strength. I will soar on wings like eagles; I will run and not grow weary; I will walk and not be faint.”

Today we are going to focus on you as an individual. Let’s investigate the promises packed inside this incredible scripture and how they apply to us.

God does care for you! He says, “He will renew your strength.” He will renew your strength as a husband or wife, father or mother, leader or friend. He cares about everything you care about—the bills, the broken relationship, the unmet expectations... yep, all of it.

Who is doing the renewing? God is!

Far too many times, we take it upon ourselves to try to renew or refresh ourselves within our own ability instead of relying on God’s love to renew and refuel us.

One of the meanings in Hebrew for renew is “change” (Gen 41:14). I remember when my kids were young, and I would help their mom get them ready for school. She would lay out the new outfit for that day. As a father, I changed their clothes and dressed them with the outfit of the day my wife had laid out. She never trusted me to color coordinate!

That’s exactly what the Hebrew word for renew means. God wants to change your clothes today with a spiritual garment sewn in hope and designed to renew and refresh you. He wants to renew and change the way you perceive everything and everyone, especially yourself, your spouse, and your circumstances. Today, I want you to allow God to give you a renewed perspective.

Prayer- Pray this out loud today:

God, I receive the renewing you are doing in my life. I accept the change of clothes that you, as a Father, are putting on me. I do not need to struggle or strive to renew my strength because that’s your job. I can rest in knowing that you are doing that for me today. I receive your love and choose to focus on your truth that transforms me and will, in turn, transform my life.

Action Step

Research tells us that people who choose to write things down are far more likely to excel in life than those who don’t. Today I want you to journal your thoughts and allow your spirit, soul, and body to fully connect to becoming one who hopes in the Lord your God. Finish up by reading Psalm 103:1-5.
