6 Things Christians Should Do With Money

ZUVA 2 REMAZUVA 6

Day 2: Put Your Trust and Hope in God, Not Money

“As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God . . .”

It’s funny how we tend to feel more comfortable and at ease when our bank account is full and much less comfortable when our bank account is empty.

Those are natural feelings, but where do they come from?

Many times, the sad truth is that money can become our idol, and we put our hope and trust in our cash instead of the Sovereign Creator of all things.

God is the One who promises to take care of His children. And in fact, meet all of our needs (Phil 4:19).

Everything we have ever earned, received, or worked for is a direct gift from Him.

He is the One we should look to and place our trust in for provision – not our bank accounts, investments, employers, or anything else.

The truth is that I should be just as confident that things are going to work out when they look crazy as when everything looks fine and dandy.

But, the opposite is true as well.

Even when things look peaceful and calm, that is NOT an indication of security.

Our security comes from God, and it is not at all dependent on what is going on around us.

Whether it is the economy, finances, children, or marriages, we can (and should) trust God with all of it.

Let me encourage you today to intentionally place your trust in Him rather than your bank account. Regardless of whether your bank account is full or empty, our trust should never be given over to it but to God.

Let’s pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that YOU are the one who supplies all my needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. You are El Shaddai - the God who is more than enough. I refuse to put my trust in my bank account or even my ability to earn, and I purposefully put that trust back in You. Help me to continually remember You are my source. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
