Unmasked - Dare to Be the Real YouChikamu
DEVOTIONAL PASSAGE
To experience complete wholeness in our lives, we must be vulnerable and completely honest with ourselves. Like many other masks we wear, insecurity takes our focus off of God and puts it onto ourselves. Insecurity is caused by rejection, trauma, and comparisons. It attacks our sanity, it sabotages our relationships, and it arrests our successes. Insecurity causes us to crave and seek out recognition, acceptance, and affirmation. This search for acceptance born out of insecurity, if not met, can cause us to become fearful and withdraw. Neither of these actions takes us to our destiny in Christ. Insecurity can derail us from fulfilling our purposes and can undermine the good God wants for our lives.
Having explored the Bible, and having experienced situations in my own life, I've discovered that to be able to shed the mask of insecurity, we must first find our security in Christ. In order to live this out, we need to strengthen ourselves in the truth of the Word and know what is said about us as God’s children. As God’s children, we are joint heirs with Christ - whatever He has, we get! This is how we break free of insecurities: we need a revelation of God’s love and of our true worth in God's eyes.
Your worth is based on the fact that you are His child, and He will never leave you nor forsake you! Secure people don’t look over their shoulders, they strengthen their shoulders so others can stand on them.
TAKEAWAYS
Read and remember 1 John 4:17.
We are armed against insecurity.
We can only move forward from a place of security.
DECLARATIONS
Heavenly Father, I can live in security instead of living insecure. I can be secure in Your love and take hold of my position as a child of God instead of trying to perform for Your acceptance. I take off the mask of insecurity by stepping into the truth of who I am as a child of God: Loved, Chosen, Called. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
REFLECTIONS
Spend time asking God for a revelation of His love for you.
Choose two ways you will live from a position of security today.
Speak out the truth of who you are in Christ.

About this Plan
A war is taking place over our identity. It has stopped us from living authentic, vulnerable, transparent lives and is robbing us of fullness of life. We wear masks that cover the truth - we are created in God's likeness and image. He has paid for us to be equipped with love, peace, joy, and security. Let's lose the masks and discover who God created us to be.
