Holy Emotions - Biblical Responses to Every ChallengeChikamu
You will only be the person that God created you to be when you receive the power that He has created for you to have. I can be such an outrageously emotional person that all I can ever do on my own is think about me and the way that I feel. You were not created for expressing your uncontrollable emotions; you were created for fruit, for good works, for the Kingdom of God and for power! There are two distinct phrases in the scripture that we are reading today that are life altering and will set you into your emotional destiny. "You shall receive power," is perhaps the most exciting phrase in the entire New Testament. You shall receive power! You don't have to slug through life with your own strength! You don't have to be content with emotional sewage and generational baggage! You will never take authority over your emotional hysteria until you receive the power of the Holy Spirit. "... And you shall be My witnesses," is the second stirring promise in this well-known verse. Receiving the power of the Holy Spirit enables you to become who God has created you to be! You need God's power so that you become a witness of His nature at this time in history. You shall receive power and you shall be! You will never become all that God intended for you to become until you receive His power. Jesus knew that we would not be able to live an abundant life on planet earth without the power of the Holy Spirit and so He provided that exact power. I find myself praying this prayer sometimes several times a day because I am such a desperate woman: Holy Spirit, fill me with Your power! I want all that You have for me, I want Your gifts and Your fruit. I want Your power more than anything else today. If You want me to pray for miracles and for healing, I will do it, so count me in! I want everything that You have for me. I want patience and self-control in addition to peace and joy and love. I will take every single ounce of power that You are willing to throw my way. And then what do you do? Well ... then you do what all emotionally-charged human beings hate to do because then - you wait.
