 All Things Culminate in Christ

Moses and Elijah conversed with Jesus about His coming death..

Jesus’ death and its implications are the pinnacle in reconciling humanity back into the marriage covenant/love relationship with God. Let us never forget, God’s heart aches to be reunited with His bride who has a broken relationship with Him.

So, the law (Moses) and the prophets (Elijah) were leading all of human understanding to fulfillment in Christ. The two disciples on the road to Emmaus were sad, though they had witnessed the crucifixion as well as the resurrection of our Lord. They were unable to see the larger picture and God’s plan in bringing all things together in Christ (Luke 24:13-26). The Lord called them, “O foolish ones …” (Luke 24:25-26). Similarly, if we remain focused on the present and look at life with sadness, we are being foolish. We must see God’s work throughout history and see how He is bringing all things to its conclusion in Christ (Luke 24:27)

The understanding and revelation that the Lord brought to those two disciples, transformed them. They were never the same again. They now saw everything in its right context. They saw the fulfillment of human history in Christ (Luke 24:32)

This understanding of the law and the prophets culminating in Christ should not leave us smug and complacent. It must fill us with a single-minded passion to go out and share it with many others so that they too will live in the joy of the Lord and look forward to His return with eagerness (Luke 24:44)

Thought to ponder

What is your passion today?
