Lessons ~ The TransfigurationChikamu
Live Here on Earth Knowing the Glory of God
Peter said that it was good for them to be there at the mount of transfiguration (Luke 9:33). It was a rich and exciting experience for the disciples that Peter wanted to capture and hold on to it by constructing three tabernacles.
Subsequently however, the joyful experience turned into something frightening because the three disciples fell on their faces with fear (Matthew 17:5-6). They experienced the presence of God in the cloud and heard His voice when He spoke out of the cloud.
We see this happening repeatedly when God descended in the cloud and His glory filled the place (Exodus 40:34-35/ Psalms 18:9-11). We see this happening when Solomon constructed the temple (II Chronicles 7:1-3). When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. The priests could not enter the house of the LORD because His glory had filled it.
When the people of Israel saw how the fire came down and the glory of the LORD filled the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground and worshiped and praised Him.
This needs to be our response. A response of continuous worship to our God for we know that He is holy and glorious.
Thought to ponder
It is this life of worship by God’s people which will make the world turn from its arrogance and rebellion and submit to Yahweh.
