Jesus Over Our CityChikamu
Has anyone ever told you to do something, and then hung you out to dry? Maybe they pulled a fast one over you. Maybe their intention was to prank you, and they succeeded. Has a friend ever told you to do something, and they would be there to help you out later, but they didn’t show up? Or maybe you sometimes do things that seem insignificant, not a big deal, but then you find out later how you were a part of something greater than you ever had imagined.
Jesus modeled to the disciples what it looked like to spread the love of Jesus. Although he was rejected in his hometown, he then instructed his disciples to go two by two throughout the cities. And then the disciples came back to Jesus reporting to Him all the stories that came from their “mission trip.” The disciples didn’t come back empty-handed. People came back with them. The bible says that “because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat.”
Jesus isn’t going to send you on a mission where you don’t succeed. He is not going to send you out, and just let you be embarrassed, mocked, and rejected. People may or may not “follow you back home,” but trust that Jesus isn’t just pulling a fast one over you. Right after the disciples reported back to Jesus, Jesus fed the 5000—one of the biggest miracles, numerically, throughout the entire Bible. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Jesus isn’t trying to prank you. Jesus will show up for you. And when you look back, you will realize that you were a part of something greater than you ever had imagined.
Jesus is over our city.
