Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of FaithChikamu
May 12
Introduction
After a time of peace of forty years, once again the people of Israel sin against the LORD. The people of Midian rule over them for seven years, and the Israelites cry out to the LORD for help. An angel of the LORD appears to Gideon with the message that Gideon has been chosen to rescue the Israelites from the Midianites.
Today’s Scripture: Judges 6:12
The LORD’s angel appeared to him there and said, “The LORD is with you, brave and mighty man!”
Today’s Reading
Judges 6:1-27
Reflect
Reread verses 2-6. Besides attacking the Israelites, what else did the Midianites do? What message did the prophet deliver from the LORD (verses 8-10)? How did Gideon respond to the angel’s message? Why did he ask for proof (verse 17)? Why did Gideon think he was not the right person to rescue Israel (verses 15)? Have you ever been called upon to do a task that you felt was beyond your capabilities? If so, what did you do?
Pray
Sovereign God, you alone are God, and I worship you and praise your holy name. You are my true source of strength, and I place my trust in you. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those facing difficult tasks
Tomorrow’s Reading
