Wow, God! (An Advent Journey)Chikamu
WOW, GOD. YOU GIVE ME ENOUGH STRENGTH FOR TODAY AND YOU WILL GIVE ME MORE TOMORROW.
Experience
I know, I KNOW the story. God loves me. He sent his son, Jesus, because he loves all people. Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I know that in my head. But I still sometimes don’t know if I really feel it. I’ve been reading the Bible. That’s helping me remember to pray and talk to God, and it’s also reminding me that He does love me. Except, sometimes it’s hard to live there. Life gets in the way and I can’t keep up. I don’t know if I can do everything. Others rely on me. Work needs me to perform, show results, get the job done. On the worst days, the dark questions start: What if my spouse leaves me? What if I lose my job? What if the house is lost? How do I provide for my family? What if I don’t have what it takes to be everything?
Deep breath. Today I’m just going to do what I can. I don’t have to do it all at once. I can get through what I have to for today. I can get through today by remembering God’s truth. He loves me. He sent His Son for me. Jesus died on the cross for me, and then God raised Him up. I know God can raise anything up. Even me, even today.
Wow, God. You give me enough strength for today….and You will give me more tomorrow.
Respond
Maybe today is not as easy as yesterday. Maybe today feels like there is just too much for you to handle. Maybe you don’t see a way out of a situation. Today, when the uncertain things trouble you, sit with Jesus. He has your back. He can get you through today, and tomorrow, and every day after that. Remember, He came to this earth to be like you AND to show you what God is like. Jesus knows what you need, and His promise to you is this: “My grace is all you need.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
Pray
God, give me Your grace and strength to get through today. It’s all I need. Amen.
