30/30 Challenge Reading PlanChikamu
Hope is the anchor of our soul—our mind, will and emotions. It’s what keeps us stable and steady during difficult times. The best way to discover real hope is through studying God’s Word because it is the ultimate source of hope that won’t fade or fail.
Hope is a favorable and confident expectation. It’s a positive attitude and the happy anticipation that something good is going to happen. Real hope is not a wishy-washy, vague, “let’s just wait and see what happens” attitude. It’s believing and trusting that what God promised, He will do.
No matter what the day brings us, we can always find the hope in Christ that is “a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul” as we study God’s Word. As an anchor holds a ship steady, hope in Christ anchors our soul—our mind, will and emotions—steadfast in faith, especially during hard times.
Notice the last part of Hebrews 6:19, which says the anchor of hope “cannot slip and it cannot break down under whoever steps out upon it.” This means we have to be the ones to step out on God’s Word, and that act of faith puts the promises of God into action. A hopeful person must deal with the storms of life just like anyone else, but what makes the difference is their decision to be positive and stay focused on the Word, to refuse negativity in their thoughts, attitudes or conversation. That’s how we anchor our hope in Christ!
