Guide Your Mind-Guard Your Heart-Grace Your Tongue

DAY 4 OF 21

Since the birth of time, Satan has targeted God’s people with his preposterous lies. You must never entertain a thought that places doubts in your mind concerning the infallibility and the validity of the Word of God. God’s Word is true all the time! Every word, every verse, every chapter, and every book in the Bible holds eternal truth. You must unwaveringly decide this issue for yourself once and for all: “If God said it, then I believe it, and that settles it!”

Satan’s wily plan is to convince you that it is not absolutely necessary for you to obey every word that God speaks. He tries to chip away at your trust in God, and if he can place a shadow of a doubt in your mind, then he is on his way to accomplishing utter ruin in your thought life. When you enter into a discussion with Satan, and then allow his perverse words to simmer in your brain, as Eve did, it will result in defeat in the following three areas of your life.

First of all, Satan’s lies can influence how you see your circumstances. The enemy’s lies make things look attractive to you that ordinarily would not be appealing. Second, Satan’s lies can change your desires from those that are healthy and eternal to those that are sick and temporal. The third downfall of listening to Satan is that you will attempt to influence others based upon your own deception and self-justification.

If Satan can gain a foothold in our minds, he will likely control our lives, because as we think within ourselves do are we. All that Satan is capable of giving you is deception; all that God is capable of giving you is truth. As you strategically choose your thoughts, your goal is to fill your mind to a greater degree with the principles and truth found only in the Bible. If you have a “default” setting in your brain, it should always be set to the Word of God!

Personal Application:

In what ways have any of these areas been influenced by erroneous thinking, planted in your mind by the enemy? Match a Scripture to each of your answers—either one that affirms it or corrects it.
