Anchored: Through Deep Waters

DAY 7 OF 7

Hope.

In depression, there can be a cloud just hovering above your head that leaves you feeling like healing will never come. The great thing is that God doesn’t give us a timeline throughout our struggles, but He always promising to come through. Depression and even anxiety appear like chains, so let’s look at a story of two men in bondage crying out and singing praises to God.

"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened." Acts 16:25-26

I understand that Paul and Silas were in different chains than depression, but the important thing is to understand that it was late in the midnight hour that God broke the chains. You may feel like you can’t fall any further, but our hope that God will send freedom may come in the midnight hour. Our anchor in Jesus and His promises always supersede the human time table we attempt to enforce on Him. David, the psalmist, often cried that God had forsaken him, but every time God came through. I am sure David would have liked God to come in sooner at times, but David chose to praise God every time.

Lift your eyes past the cloud over your head! God will turn your situation around.

Hold on to Jesus even to the depths of the ocean. The waves will not engulf you and depression will not defeat you. Have hope in your Anchor.
Dan 6

This 7 day plan will provide biblical truths to help sustain you through the deep waters of depression. Depression doesn’t have to cause you to drift away or knock you off the path God has for you.
