His Glory, My Story: A Study of His Glory in Hebrews

DAY 6 OF 8

Day 6: The Declaration of Our Purity

Devotional:
The second declaration from the book of Hebrews concerns our purity. Hebrews 10:10-14 reveals that Jesus offered a single, perfect sacrifice for sin, breaking its power forever. Unlike the Old Testament system of repeated sacrifices, Jesus’ sacrifice is final and complete. Through His blood, we are sanctified, made holy, and declared pure in God’s sight.

However, if its power has been broken, you may wonder why sin still influences our lives. The answer lies in renewing our minds. Romans 12:2 teaches that transformation begins when we flood our thoughts with God’s truth. As we meditate on the reality of our purity in Christ, our behaviour begins to align with this truth. Change is always the result of renewing the mind.

Hebrews 9:14 reminds us that the blood of Christ purifies our conscience from "dead works" so we can serve the living God. When we fully embrace this truth, we no longer approach life from a place of guilt or shame. Instead, we serve God with confidence, knowing that we are fully accepted by Him.

The challenge of purity is not just about avoiding sin but about saying "yes" to our true character in Christ. Titus 2:11-12 reminds us that God’s grace teaches us to reject ungodliness and to say yes and embrace the life He created us to live. As we fix our minds on His declarations of purity, we grow into who we truly are. Remember who you are!

Next Step:
Reflect on Hebrews 10:14: "For by a single offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified." Spend time in prayer, asking God to purify your conscience and help you live from the truth of your purity in Christ. Write down one habit or thought pattern you want to surrender to Him and take one practical step today toward renewal.
