Day 4: Living in and From His Presence
Devotional:
The presence of God is not confined to a temple or holy place—it’s available to us wherever we are. Jesus promised this in John 4:23-24, declaring that true worship is about spirit and truth, not location. Because of His work on the cross, we are now temples of His presence, and our worship extends beyond songs to a lifestyle of connection with God.
Experiencing God’s presence begins with awareness. Just as the hand of a loved one heightens one's awareness of their presence, moments of worship, prayer, or meditation can lift one's awareness of God. His presence is always with us, but we often fail to recognize it. When we live with an intentional awareness of His closeness, we begin to worship not just in special moments but in every moment of everyday life.
Living from His presence means allowing His glory to influence what we see, hear, feel, and say. It’s not just about attending conferences or church services to "experience" God. Instead, it’s about beginning each day with Him and letting His presence flow into every interaction, decision, and thought. Hebrews 12:28 reminds us to worship with reverence and awe, recognizing the privilege we have as citizens of His unshakable kingdom.
A practical way to cultivate this awareness is to change self-talk into God-talk. Instead of thinking, "What a beautiful day!" say, "Thank You, Lord, for this beautiful day." Instead of facing challenges with worry, say, "Father, I trust You to guide me." This small shift can transform your perspective and deepen your sense of God’s presence.
Worship is more than songs—it’s about leaning into God’s perspective, emotions, and voice. When we worship, we bring our face close to His, allowing His light, love, and truth to shape our lives.
Next Step:
Start your day with 10 minutes of "face-time" with God. Praise Him for His presence in your life, and ask Him to guide your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Throughout the day, practice turning your self-talk into God-talk to heighten your awareness of Him.
